A Ranch Musical Is Becoming Under the Western Skies

Big news from the trail: our film has a new name.

After much thought, conversation, and care, we have decided to retitle A Ranch Musical as Under the Western Skies.

This was not an easy decision. A Ranch Musical was the title that carried us through writing, filming, editing, test screenings, and the early life of this project. It will always hold a special place in our hearts because it represents where this journey began.

But as the film prepares to reach new audiences across the country and, hopefully, around the world, we knew it was important to choose a title that felt more marketable, relatable, and intriguing to a wider audience.

Why We Made the Change

At its heart, the film is still the same story audiences have laughed with, cried with, and cheered for. It is still a heartfelt western story about tradition, family, ranch life, romance, music, and the courage it takes to embrace change without losing your roots.

But we also recognized that the word “musical” can sometimes give audiences a very specific expectation — and for some viewers, it might even keep them from giving the film a chance.

We wanted a title that better captured the sweeping feeling of the story, the beauty of the landscapes, and the emotional spirit of the West. Under the Western Skies feels true to the heart of the movie while opening the door for more people to discover it.

Same Heart, Wider Horizon

Although the name is changing, the soul of the film remains exactly the same.

This is still a love letter to the West. It is still a celebration of ranching communities, western music, family legacy, resilience, and the people who keep tradition alive while finding the courage to move forward.

The new title gives us room to grow as we continue pursuing screenings, festivals, distribution opportunities, and new audiences.
