What an unforgettable day in Clifton, Texas.
Our Texas premiere of Under the Western Skies was everything we hoped it would be: warm, lively, heartfelt, and full of the kind of community spirit that makes sharing an independent film so meaningful. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed with open arms, and by the end of the day, our hearts were full.
Bringing this film to Texas was especially meaningful because this is Kristyn Harris’s neck of the woods. Kristyn is not only the lead star and musical heart of the film, but also a producer and creative partner who helped shape the authenticity of the story. To share the movie with a Texas audience, surrounded by people who understand western music, ranch life, and community, felt incredibly special.

From the planning to the hosting to the many behind-the-scenes details, Brett and Simone went above and beyond to welcome us to Clifton and help create a beautiful event for the film. Their generosity, enthusiasm, and belief in independent storytelling made the entire experience feel personal and deeply meaningful.

We are also incredibly thankful to the Bosque Film Society for hosting us and making space for Under the Western Skies in their community.
Independent films depend on people and organizations who believe in storytelling, local audiences, and the magic of gathering together around the big screen. The Bosque Film Society has been a wonderful advocate for independent film, western film, and film culture in Central Texas, and it was truly an honor to be welcomed by them.
Their support helped give our Texas premiere the kind of home every filmmaker dreams of: one filled with curiosity, hospitality, good conversation, and a genuine love for cinema.
A Historic Theater Full of Heart
The screening took place at the historic Cliftex Theatre, one of the most special movie houses we could have imagined for our Texas premiere.
The Cliftex has been showing films in Clifton since 1916 and is known as the longest continuously operating movie house in Texas. For more than a century, audiences have gathered there to experience stories on the silver screen, and we were honored that Under the Western Skies could become part of that history, even for one afternoon.
For a film about legacy, tradition, rural life, and the courage to carry old values into a changing world, premiering at a theater with that much history felt like a perfect fit.
A Lively Conversation After the Film
After the screening, we had a wonderful Q&A with Brett Voss, Director Natalie Aramendia, and lead star Kristyn Harris.
The conversation was lively, fun, and full of thoughtful questions from the audience. We talked about the making of the film, the inspiration behind the story, the music, the ranching details, the challenges of independent filmmaking, and what it took to bring this western musical to life.
It is always special when audiences want to know more about what happened behind the scenes, and the Clifton crowd gave us such generous, engaged, and meaningful questions.
Continuing the Conversation
After the screening event, we headed over to the Clifton Record Tribune newspaper office to record a video podcast for Brett Voss’s podcast.
We had such a fun time continuing the conversation and reflecting on the journey of the film, our Texas premiere, and what comes next for Under the Western Skies. That episode should be airing soon, and we will be sure to share it as soon as it is ready.
